You know, I look at this girl and I can’t help but think of the old saying from Mark Twain:
“All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure.”
Women like this… they thrive on attention because the world just throws it at them.
Sure, she’s beautiful, she’s got that sweet face and all the curves, but experience has taught me that beauty like this is a magnet for trouble. A wise man once said, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Well, I say hell hath no fury like realizing your “dream girl” has ten other guys lined up because she’s used to being adored. People here see an angel. I see someone who would be exciting for a weekend and a nightmare for a lifetime. Maybe I’m jaded, maybe I’m just old, but I’ve been through it all before. Beautiful women online, chasing the next high from attention, and men like us convincing ourselves they’re “different.” Let me tell you a story. Years ago, I thought I met my “forever” girl. Gorgeous, funny, she made me feel like the center of the universe. She was the type to post cute little photos online and everyone told me how lucky I was. Six months later, she was gone—ran off with a guy who had a faster car and a bigger wallet. That’s life. And every time I see a girl like this, I remember that pit in my stomach. I’ve read enough, lived enough, and seen enough to know that when Shakespeare said, “All that glitters is not gold,” he might as well have been talking about online pin-ups. They glitter all right—bright, shiny, irresistible. But the second you get too close, you realize it’s just fool’s gold, and now you’re the fool paying for it with your time, heart, and probably your bank account. People will say I’m bitter. Fine, maybe I am. But bitterness is just wisdom with teeth. You don’t get to my age without collecting a few scars. I know guys who’ve thrown away marriages, careers, and fortunes chasing after women who looked at them like this girl does in these photos— and I’ve seen those same women walk out the door without a backward glance. Now don’t get me wrong—I can appreciate the view. I’m not dead, just realistic. But for every guy here imagining she’s wife material, I’m the guy telling you that if you put a ring on it, you’re putting your head in the guillotine and handing her the rope to pull. Life’s taught me something hard: If she’s posting this stuff online, she doesn’t belong to you— she belongs to the world. She’s a free agent playing the attention game, and we’re just the audience. Maybe one day she’ll wise up, maybe one day she’ll want something real. But until then, all you’ve got is a fantasy. And fantasies are cheap until they start costing you your peace of mind. Anyway, I know this is supposed to be a fun place to post pics we like, and here I am giving the sermon nobody asked for. But that’s why I’m StuckInTheMud. I’ve been burned, and I don’t walk into the fire anymore. |
